day to night: Floral

Nevermind the beauty of my enormous magnolia tree, Elizabeth and James knows flattering fit to a tee. My garments from them rarely go out of style and somehow always fit perfectly.  I love this adorably floral silk halter dress they made.  It's wonderful on its own with sandals or a denim jacket during the day, or with a black leather jacket and peep-toe leather high heels at night to balance out the girly-ness of the pattern. I instantly gravitated toward the dark charcoal background against the pastel flowers.  The top is fitted and the skirt is is extra flowy.

DIY

We are all already aware Proenza Schouler masters handbags (the PS1 is on everyone's wishlist), wallets, apparel, shoes, and this spring Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez somehow managed to make carabiner's trendy (sporty-luxe to say the least, starting at $150) with their rope bracelets.  I love the bright colors featured in each one.  I decided to try a little DIY project to see if I could recreate the bracelet without feeling guilty for spending a significant amount of money on the rope and tool I was given when rockclimbing during childhood.  The results are below, and its semi-simple, so long as you have one of those bright colored ropes, a bright colored string, and a tiny carabiner in another color.  You have to cut the rope to double of whatever size fits your wrist, then bring the ends together so that there are two loops on either side.  I then sewed the two ends together in the middle with very thick, almost plastic thread.  Then I threaded the lime green string through both ropes only once, and looped it thereafter, securing it at the end with just a dab of hot glue.  I did the same on the left and ride side.  Attach the carabiner and you're ready to throw it on with just about anything.  Perfect with casual summer ensembles.  

colored denim and bubbles

One of my favorite new trends for spring is colored denim. There are so many varieties (my favorites are by J Brand and Rag & Bone).  I particularly love the quintessential faded pink shades because they are so neutral and fresh.  They are perfect paired with a crisp white button down (mine, Vince) and sandals.  My favorite part of these J Brand Skinny Twill Capri's is their cropped length.

entirely worth it: YSL arty ring

I'm so excited about my new YSL arty dots ring.  It comes in a variety of colors and shapes, but I chose the black and white.  It is beyond unique and beautiful and adds so much to whatever you're wearing.  Unfortunately, once you have one you start wanting to collect more (arty ovale ring?!).  My favorite lady, Alexa Chung, has the ovale in turquoise, as does Ms. Kardashian. I also love this simple Joie sleeveless silk dress with its slightly ruffled neckline.  It looks wonderful belted and with little motorcycle boots.  

newfound deal: the racerback maxi dress

With something as simple as a plain, casual racerback maxi dress, I don't believe it's always worth it to overspend.  I loved this maxi dress (and its price of ten dollars at F21 - see what I mean?!) so much that I got two in black and the darkest shade of army green.  They are so easy to throw on, unbelievably comfortable, and always look casually elegant.  The great thing about plain maxi's is that you can add so much to them, mixing both high and low pieces: jewelry, a leather jacket, a blazer, a belt, a scarf, anything really.  With the black, I put on a vintage skinny belt, Alexander McQueen silk skull scarf, Hermes spiral ring and bracelet, Free People knuckle ring, and Chan Luu wrap bracelet. On the green, just a multi-chain layered necklace from Intermix.  This is one of my favorite necklaces because it can be put at any length (I usually just wrap it once like above) and goes with absolutely everything due to the mixed metals.  

three ways to wear it: the jumper

This gauze black ruffled jumper used to actually be pants rather than shorts, but I recently had them shortened.  I wear it with 1) sandals or wedges, but I also love it 2) as a beach cover up with an extra large floppy hat.  There is so much you can do with a jumper and it's beyond easy to throw on and build upon.  I have it sported here 3) with my favorite denim jacket (seven for all mankind) and a little leopard scarf I got in Barcelona.  Here are some more rompers at intermix: I love the silk Jamison jumper because it can be dressed up and has beautiful raw edges and a tasteful cutout at the back.  The DVF romper is great for colorblocking without having to think about it, and the Cynthia Vincent is wonderful for a pop of pink color.
