I’m a high school lover, and you’re my favorite flavor

A ridiculously easy way to change up or add slight detail to a standard long sleeved tee is to slightly knot it on one side.  I love this look with cut off shorts in the summer or on the beach over a bikini.  Otherwise it's effortlessly cool with denim.  Some tops come pre-knotted (like this one from Joie) and I do adore a centered knot at the base of a button up (exhibit A) but I much prefer this or that look.

salty leave

A must-have for early spring, summer nights, and warm-weather destinations:  the perfect lightweight knit sweater.  Mine is Rag & Bone, in the most neutral taupey grey.  It is the perfect alternative to a jacket, and can be layered and thrown on in so many ways.

THOUGHTS FOR MY FRIENDS

handbag conglomeration

One of the very first on my favorite new handbags list for Spring is this Proenza Schouler bag.  I die over any Proenza Schouler handbag, but I am a true fan of anything that encapsulates the major colors (here, black, brown, and linen).  I love the structured briefcase look of it, (the standard Proenza shape) as well as the perfectly sized messenger strap and top handle.  This bag goes hand in hand with a pair of ankle jeans, flats, and a simple t shirt or blouse, but the reason I enjoy both black and oak brown represented in a bag is because you don't have to worry about coordinating, as the bag will bring together any look.

Runway: phillip lim resort

3.1 Phillip Lim resort wear has recently been released, and it is truly the epitome of early spring, with a calm color palette of warm blue pastels, breezy khakis, pleasant off-whites, creamy greys, rich navys, camel browns, delicate peaches and beautifully faded army greens. The entire collection is a dream that blends together and almost ignites the exact sensations that spring itself brings.  It is where sophistication and simplicity meet with modernity and style.  The new collection of sunglasses, bathing suits, handbags and jewelry are no different.  The tubular necklaces are reminiscent of an elegant sailor (a hypocritical statement, I know): braided rope with golden beads and Swarovski pearls.  Some of my favorite looks from the collection (if I had to choose) are as follows: look 1 (the color of the trousers paired with the beautiful blouse is so simple yet incredibly eye-catching), look 2 (because I've always been a fan spring sweaters, and this one is just perfect with the rich navy pant), look 3 (the color palette in this look is muted but so fresh), look 4 (again with the sweater, and there is nothing like a tailored pair of khaki shorts at this time of year).

Sunday

your tiny hands. your crazy kitten smile.

My favorite Christmas gift: this Stella McCartney bag.  It's candy-like shininess is balanced out in sleek black and complimentary thick black chains.  Stella usually will do a shiny silver chain with her bags, but I completely preferred the black: it's more modern and a bit less of an eye soar.  This bag has proven to make even the most boring outfit special.  My TRE ring was also a Christmas gift, and it is for sure a statement piece, made in a glistening black glass bubble shape.

I'm in the middle of your picture

This is one of those dresses I simply couldn't get out of my head, no matter how hard I tried.  By Rag & Bone, the body is made out of perfectly fitted silky black jersey, but the top overlay is what really makes it.   The LBD with style: layers and layers of silk chiffon with raw edges.  The back zips up and fits like a glove, and it can be worn either off the shoulders or on.  It looks great all year round, bare legs or with tights.  To create a less dressy look, throw on opaques and short motorcycle boots.

Saturday

nye dress

The perfect New Years Eve dress has both style and comfort and is both girly and sexy.  There also must be the perfect ingredient of sequin: too much is tacky and none at all is no fun.  In this Rebecca Taylor dress, I immediately fell for the rich charcoal hue that is paired with the subtle sequin detailing along the sweetheart silhouette.  Not to mention the raw edges along the top are absolutely beautiful.
When it comes to embellished party dresses, less jewelry is best.  I love this Dannijo coco ring that is completely covered in Swarovski crystals: it compliments the dress perfectly.  The great thing about it is it can be worn with everything, casually and dressed up, because it is both funky and elegant.
