day to night: leather shorts

Leather in any form always performs day to night, season to season (except perhaps in the middle of August). One piece in particular, tailored leather shorts, can go from coffee to cocktails (or lunch to dinner) in 0-60.

For real, I changed in 0-60 seconds.

In the daytime, the shorts just need a great white oversized pocket tee. Mine is by Thakoon, and features an asymmetrical pocket and braided seam along the front. It adds just a hint of detail to an otherwise plain top. With booties, a great carryall, and equally large shades, all thats necessary is some coral lipstick (for some color) and armwear. I took a basic silver necklace as well as a silver chain necklace and twisted them together around my arm to create a loose, chunky mixed bracelet. I love when watches, bangles, and bracelets are looser and can move - too tight is an uncomfortable look in more ways than one.

Shirt: Thakoon, Leather Shorts: F21 (Yes!), Booties: Rag & Bone, Bucket Bag: Alexander Wang, Sunglasses: Chloe.

To switch the look for night, I immediately went from coral lipstick to a deep red (Clinique's 'A Different Grape'). Pink, red, coral and burgundy lip colors give completely different vibes and produce equally different looks. I obviously love them all the same.

I replaced the oversized tee with a body-conscious camisole, tucked into the shorts. From that I threw on a light grey blazer and traded the bucket bag for a small cross-body. Rather than armwear, I don a collar necklace for a more sophisticated look. This one, a whopping $5 from F21, originally had more silver, smaller beads, but to make sure it didn't look what it cost, I removed them and left it with just the collar. Its so easy to make jewelry your own by adding or removing when it's an inexpensive piece.
